Mentoring Boys Print E-mail
mentor2.jpgThis program began as a pilot project in April 2007 as an urgent request by the Guidance Counselor, Constance Chambers. We were subsequently asked to visit the school and meet with the remaining counselors and the principle, Antoinette Storr with a view to discuss the plight of the boys who were difficult to manage and regarded as “At Risk.” As a result of the meeting a framework was established and recruitment and training exercise was pursued to reach out to the boys.

At our first meeting we witnessed a police officer almost dragging a boy into our session. It was a poignant example of the challengers the teachers and administrators face on a day-to-day basis in our public high schools. His demeanor suggested he was scared, and potentially violent. The other boys sometimes teased him but they remained focus on this new happening at the school.

The boys group’s name was changed from “At Risk” to “Real Boys”mentor3.jpg
We have had several weekly sessions of one hour in duration and have taken the boys through sessions in anger management, conflict resolution, self-esteem, purpose, potential, making right choices, peer pressure, relationships and others. Most of the sessions are interactive and involve role-playing.

Based on the feed back of the boys to date and reports of their behavior and grades it appears that we have planted viable seeds in good soil. All of them are respectful and their redeeming qualities appear just below the shell of poor self-esteem.

RMMI Prison

Prison Ministry is an idea birth in the heart of God.

To this end Real Men Ministry International is obedient in our quest to exhort, encourage and minister to the needs of the disenfranchised, down trodden and despised.

Do you know that one in ten persons are caught and punished in prison?
Do you know that one half of the persons charged with criminal offences are acquitted?
Do you know that 60% of past inmates return to prison after gaining their freedom?
Finally, are you aware that committed Christians do not commit crimes?
